PUTRAJAYA – The Proclamation of Emergency implemented by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government has its expiry date, said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Therefore, according to him, the Proclamation of Emergency is not a measure taken for him to continue remaining in power as alleged by certain quarters.
“I am aware and I understand the meaning of democracy. Therefore, none of the things in the ordinance is meant to enable the Prime Minister to remain in power forever.
“Moreover, the emergency has an expiry date of 1 August 2021. This is the first time in our national history that an emergency has an expiry date,” he said during his special address in conjunction with the one year anniversary of Malaysia Prihatin at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre today.
Together with him were four senior ministers namely, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin. – MalaysiaGazette
