KUALA LUMPUR – Pakatan Harapan (PH) should work with Pejuang in the coming 15th General Election (GE15) but at the same time, not support Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the candidate for Prime Minister (PM) said the International Affairs Secretary of DAP, Teo Nie Ching.

She, who is also the Member of Parliament of Kulai said that Dr Mahathir is no longer a suitable PM candidate but DAP needs to work together with Pejuang.

“We don’t have the capital to reject any political party. The opposition should join forces as long as we have the clear direction and framework,” she told China Press.

According to her, the 96 year-old Dr Mahathir should not become the PM as it would only depict a very ‘pitiful’ situation in the country, as if Malaysia is lacking of new talent.

When asked if Dr Mahathir is a dictator, Nie Ching firmly denied the allegation.

“I don’t see Dr Mahathir as despotic or stubborn with his own opinion. He is rather willing to discuss.

“Although he may not necessarily accept the opinion after discussion, however, this is quite normal, just like anyone else,” she said.

On the possibility of PH winning GE15, Nie Ching said that the chances to win is determined by various factors, including the relationship between Perikatan Nasional and Barisan Nasional.

“Optimistic or not is hard to decipher, I can only say that we are facing a huge challenge.

“PH needs to be ready internally to face the general election. That’s for sure,” she said. –MalaysiaGazette
