SEPANG – The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar refuses to entertain any demands for him to resign from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.
He said, he has no time to fulfil political demands at the moment as he wants to ensure that the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) runs smoothly.
“I have no time to play politics,” said the Rembau MP at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Vaccination Centre today, commenting on the demand from UMNO leadership that wanted its MPs to resign as ministers, deputy ministers and chairpersons of government-linked-companies (GLC) by 1 August.
On 21 June, the President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi gave a 14-day period for the PN government to convene the Parliament sitting.
The move is also seen as an excuse for Ahmad Zahid to remove UMNO from the government that refused to call for a parliament sitting immediately.
Nevertheless, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) announced yesterday that the Parliament will sit on 26 July. The date is coincidently, the due date given by Ahmad Zahid earlier. – MalaysiaGazette
