KUALA LUMPUR – If Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin resigns today, an Interim Prime Minister must be appointed to lead the government’s administration.
UMNO Youth Chief, Datuk Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said that the Interim Prime Minister must then, form a Unity Government Cabinet which is inclusive and involves representatives from all major parties from the government and the opposition.
He said, the government can take the experience from the United Kingdom (UK) in several major events such as the Brexit, World War during Winston Churchill’s era and the Falklands War during Margaret Thatcher’s era.
According to him, the Interim Unity Government must also prioritise on the efforts to overcome Covid-19, speed up vaccination, stabilises economy and assisting the welfare of the people including #TuntutanRakyat.
“Shrink the Cabinet size from 70 Minister and Deputy Ministers as seen in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government to only a maximum of 10 to 15 Coordinating Ministers.
“The Interim Unity Government will only last until the herd immunity is reached, when 90 percent of the population is vaccinated with a target of six until nine months from now.
“If the herd immunity is reached, the Interim Prime Minister must advise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to dissolve the Parliament and leave the mandate to the people and pave way for the 15th General Election (GE15),” he said in a Facebook post today.
According to Dr Asyraf, the Interim Unity Government can reduce the heat of the political climate by ensuring all parties take important part in handling Covid-19, thus, creating a real truce.
After the six months period and upon reaching heard immunity, GE15 can be conducted.
He also highlighted several opinion for the Interim Unity Government to function, including no more horse trading or buying Members of Parliament (MPs) and politicians.
“No more competition benefiting the authority using threats and offers to weaken their competitors.
“All parties work together and focus on the efforts of handling Covid-19, not but playing war chess in the government and there must be a political cease fire until GE15,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
