KUALA LUMPUR – The audience between all political party leaders and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has successfully reached a consensus where all of them agree to start a new political chapter.
According to the Opposition Chief, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, decision was made in consensus after the two-hours meeting with Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at Istana Negara.
“Lim Guan Eng, Mat Sabu and I, along with the others from UMNO, Pas and Pejuang shared our opinion.
“Everyone seemed to achieve a consensus of ceasing the old politics by punishing, and we will focus again on developing the country,” he told the media outside Istana Negara today.
Anwar, Guan Eng and Mat Sabu were spotted to leave Istana Negara at 4.00 pm after the two-hours audience with Agong.
Meanwhile, Anwar said that Al-Sultan Abdullah also advised everyone present to be united in facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to Anwar, Agong said that all decisions will be made according to the Federal Constitution.
“Yang di-Pertuan Agong also told us that the Prime Minister with the majority support of the Members of Parliament will be chosen according to the Constitution, however, the politics must change.
“In other words, history shouldn’t repeat itself by ‘eating’ the losers,” he added.
Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah cum the Sultan of Perak was also present during the meeting.
Anwar said, the main objective of the meeting was not the appointment of the new Prime Minister but to develop new politics that is more peaceful and comfortable for the people. –MalaysiaGazette
