KUALA LUMPUR – Even if the government allows Klang Valley to transit from Phase 1 to Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (PPN), it does not mean that the locality if free from Covid-19 threat.
Furthermore, Covid-19 threat still exists for individuals who have completed two doses of vaccination.
According to the President of UMNO Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, those who have yet to be vaccinated in the Klang Valley include those who are below 17 years of age.
He said, everyone must pay attention to their safety, especially their parents.
“The transition of PPN Phases in Klang Valley would become a focus as this area records the highest Covid-19 infections all these while.
“On 31 August, 5,399 daily Covid-19 infections were reported in the Klang Valley with 161 Covid-19 deaths.
“Therefore, we hope that the residents in Klang Valley would practice tight SOP at all time despite we have transited in PPN Phases,” he said in a Facebook post in respond to the Prime Minister’s opinion on Monday that the Klang Valley can transit to PPN Phase 2 following an outstanding vaccination rate of over 80 percent.
However, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the matter will be decided in the Special Committee to Overcome Covid-19 meeting along with the Cabinet chaired by him.
According to Ahmad Zahid, movement control should go on by only allowing essential matters as Phase 2 grants more leniency in movements.
“This advice should also be applied to other areas that have transited to their next phases. We cannot forget the ‘Kita Jaga Kita’ slogan,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
