KUALA LUMPUR – A Non-Government Organisation (NGO), Reset Malaysia pleaded the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) and The Council of Rulers to restructure the National Recovery Council (MPN).
Its Directors, Dr. Abu Hafiz Salleh Hudin said that the appointment of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the Chairman of MPN contradicts their proposal earlier as it should be led by experts without any payment.
“This is the follow up to what we presented to High Majesty YDPA at Istana Negara several weeks ago on the restructuring of MPN.
“Last week, the Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN), Tan Sri Zuki Ali announced the appointment of Tan Sri Muhyiddin as the Chairman of MPN.
“We see that the appointment contradicts to what we suggested earlier,” he said during a news conference today.
Earlier, he submitted the memorandum for the recommendation of the Council of Rulers to restructure MPN along with the Chief Secretariat of Reset Malaysia, Dr Nurul Ashikin Mabahwi.
Abu Hafiz also expressed his disappointment that the restructuring of MPN consisted of old faces from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government that has failed in managing Covid-19 pandemic earlier.
“The same roles are given ministerial positions is disappointing enough when MPN, proposed by Tun Dr Mahathir should predominantly consists of experts and those who work pro-bono.
“They perform their duties and give their advice for free, compared to the one formed under the leadership of Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“The current framework is not the same as (suggested by) Tun Dr Mahathir.
“According to the old format, there were about 10 Cabinet Ministers in it,” he added. –MalaysiaGazette
