KUALA LUMPUR – Former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tan Sri Hamid Bador has lost his right to comment on the cartel issue within the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

The Chairman of Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC), Tan Sri Sidek Hassan said that Hamid has made accusations without providing any evidence and at the same time, did not name the officers involved in the cartel issue.

At the same time, he said that the former IGP has never raised the issue in any meetings involving the Department Directors of PDRM in Bukit Aman while he was still the IGP.

“He confessed that as the Inspector-General of Police, he never raised the cartel issue in any meetings involving the Bukit Aman PDRM Department Directors,” he said in a joint-statement with the top leadership of the commission.

Therefore, Hamid did not take appropriate action earlier when he was still the IGP.

“As the IGP, he should have instructed the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) to conduct thorough investigation and appropriate actions should be taken before disclosing the cartel issue to the media.

“On the contrary, he did not give any statement to the Bukit Aman JIPS to investigate and solve the cartel issue and he, as the IGP has never raised the cartel issue in the Police Force Commission (SPP) Meeting,” EAIC said in a statement.

The EAIC also rubbished Hamid’s claim that the commission is ‘shallow and not right’.

On the contrary, some witnesses in EAIC investigation said that the accusations made by Hamid at the final hours before his contract as the IGP expired in May 2021 raised many questions on his motive and objective for the revelation.

He added, the former IGP also refused to record further statement to explain about those issues.

Earlier, Sidek Hassan said that Abdul Hamid’s allegation on the cartel issue in PDRM could not be verified. -MalaysiaGazette
