KUALA LUMPUR – 243 Covid-19 cases were admitted into the hospital yesterday, with 119 cases (49%) under category 3, 4 and 5, and 124 cases (51%) under category 1 and 2.

Director-General of Health, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, 31 of the Covid-19 cases from category 3, 4 and 5 were newly reported, four cases (12.9%) were unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated, meanwhile, 15 cases (48.39%) have received two doses of vaccine but have not received their booster dose.

12 cases (38.71%) have received their booster dose, 15 cases (48.39%) were 60 years old and above and 19 cases (61.29%) had comorbidity.

Selangor recorded the highest hospital admission rate with 59 cases, followed by Johor (37), Perak (31) and Kuala Lumpur (22).

Meanwhile, Sarawak and Negeri Sembilan recorded 14 cases each, Terengganu (11) and Kedah (10).

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) bed usage for Covid-19 cases was 154 or 13% from its total capacity.

In his daily media statement, he said that there was also a decrease in the active Covid-19 cases in the country three days consecutively.

From the 6,999 total clusters reported as of yesterday, 106 were still active, compared to 109 clusters two days ago and 120 on Monday.

He said, the new emergence of new clusters had also reduced to four, compared to five two days ago and six clusters on Monday.

However, the number of new positive cases had a slight increment yesterday to 6,968 cases compared to the all-month-low recorded on Tuesday with 6,069 cases.

Meanwhile, 8,267 patients had recovered from Covid-19 yesterday. – MalaysiaGazette
