PETALING JAYA – A singer from a popular group has been remanded for two days beginning today to assist in a domestic violence case.
His lawyer, Kailash Sharma said that the remand order was issued by Court Registrar, Hairolazhar Mohd Ishak although the police made an application for a four-day remand order.
“There is a big possibility that my client will be charged at the court tomorrow,” he told the journalists today.
Earlier the 45-year-old singer was spotted wearing blue Baju Melayu and was escorted to the Remand Room of the Petaling Jaya Court Complex at around 10.55 am.
He was arrested at his house yesterday afternoon after he allegedly hit his ex-wife at Kota Damansara on 19 April.
According to the police statement, the victim was at the carpark of her ex-husband’s house at around 2.29 pm to pick up their son.
However, a misunderstanding broke up between the duo after the victim refused to take photo with the suspect.
It stirred the rage of the suspect and he started beating the victim until she suffered bruises.
The case is investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18 (A) of the Domestic Violence Act 2017. Upon conviction, he could be imprisoned for the maximum of one year or RM2,000 fine or both. -MalaysiaGazette
