KUALA LUMPUR – As on Monday (3 May), 563,350 individuals have completed two doses of Covid-19 vaccine injections through the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK).

Besides that, the Coordinating Minister of PICK, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said that 905,683 individuals have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

He said, thus, total of 1,469,033 doses of Covid-19 vaccine has been administered in the country.

Meanwhile, 9,701,690 individuals above 18 years-old have registered for the immunisation programme, with a population ratio of 40 percent.

“Phase 2 status, the total number of those registered is 2,977,175 and the number of people who have been vaccinated since 19 April is 203,871.

“Now, all states have shifted to Phase 2, with 60 Public Vaccination Centres (PPV) activated nationwide,” he said during a joint news conference with Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba on the development of PICK today.

Meanwhile, Adham said that 1,521 Covid-19 deaths have been recorded. The average number of daily deaths for Week 17 is 14 cases per day.

“There is an increment of 69.6 percent in the death rate compared to Week 16 and the death trend has been increasing,” he said.

Earlier, he suggested for the Movement Control Order (MCO) to be implemented in six states namely, in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, Kedah and Sarawak.

According to him, the suggestion was made to curb the spread of Covid-19 outbreak, especially in states with high number of cases.

He said, the country is still recording daily cases of over 3,000 for three consecutive days recently and it does not show any sign of slowing down. –MalaysiaGazette
