KUALA LUMPUR – The dethroned former Chairman of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman denied that he was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
His media officer, Rozairi Abdul Rahman said that the Member of Parliament of Pasir Salak was in his office at Menara Dato Onn, as usual to carry out his duties for the party this morning.
“Datuk Seri Tajuddin was not arrested. He was here at his office in Menara Dato Onn from 9.00 am until 11.30 am this morning to carry out works for the party, including having a meeting.
“Some media alleged that Datuk Seri Tajuddin was arrested. That is not true at all because I accompanied him to the UMNO Headquarters this morning,” he told MalaysiaGazette.
Several media reported that the Election Director of UMNO was arrested by the MACC after giving his statement to assist in the investigation of power abuse. Nevertheless, he was released on verbal guarantee.
The anti-graft agency was believed to be investigating Tajudding for meddling into the operations of Prasarana.
Last Wednesday (26 May), the Ministry of Finance (MOF) terminated the service of Tajuddin as the Non-Executive Chairman of Prasarana with immediate effect.
The Spokesperson of the MOF said that the termination has been agreed by the Finance Minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz. – MalaysiaGazette
