KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating the Chairman of Prasarana, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman for not wearing a face mask during a press conference yesterday, after inspecting the scene of an LRT accident near the KLCC station here.

Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said all parties involved in this case would be called to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters for questioning soon.

“Police are investigating the incident under Section 21A of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and Regulation 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Local Areas of Infection) Regulations 2021,” he said in a statement today.

“We have contacted Tajuddin and he has agreed to give his statement; media personnel and other individuals who were at the scene too,” he told reporters later when checking out shopping malls and a vaccination centre here.

He said the investigation paper would be handed over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office, once the probe was completed.

Mohamad Zainal said police opened the investigation after videos of Tajuddin wearing a face shield but not a face mask at the press conference had gone viral on social media.

He reminded the public to comply with the standard operating procedures issued by the National Security Council to curb the spread of Covid-19, saying action can be taken against violators.
