KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has submitted the investigation on the power abuse in Prasarana Malaysia Bhd (Prasarana) to the Attorney-General’s Chamber (AGC) two weeks ago.

Its Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Azam Baki said that the MACC is waiting for the decision from the AGC before taking any further action.

“The case is completed, involving an individual and we have submitted that to the Attorney-General’s Chamber.

“I am waiting for the decision from the Attorney-General’s Chamber is we can proceed to charge anyone,” he said after the news conference on the strategic partnership between the MACC and the Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN).

He was asked to comment about the latest development of the agency’s investigation on Prasarana.

Azam said, the Prasarana case involved the abuse of power according to Section 23(1) of the MACC Act 2009 for granting contract to family members

“This case was not from the media report, but it was from the public report. Witnesses have been called for statements. We have completed the statement paper two weeks ago,” he said.

Earlier, a news portal reported that the MACC has raided the Headquarters of Prasarana to investigate about the power abuse in that company.

The portal reported that the individual involved had abused his power to change several matters in the company that raised questions on its leadership and company direction. –MalaysiaGazette
