SEPANG – The government does not plan to channel the Covid-19 vaccine supply according to the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) locality nationwide.

The Coordinating Minister of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said, the EMCO areas are constantly changing and it would be tough to implement targeted vaccination.

“It may be tough for us to distribute the vaccine based on sub-district, district or EMCO locality.

“Thus, we have decided to send it based on the current position of the state,” he said during a news conference at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) vaccination centre (PPV) today, when asked to comment on the action of Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari who vaccinated approximately 1,500 residents of Mentari Court in Petaling Jaya yesterday.

According to Amiruddin, that was the first programme in Selangor that enabled residents at the EMCO apartment to receive their vaccine.

Meanwhile, Khairy said that the CITF would always make appropriate changes on the distribution of Covid-19 vaccine based on the highest daily Covid-19 positive cases in several states.

“We change the distribution every week. We will relook into the distribution based on the data issued by the state.

“For example, in July, we have decided that among the targeted states based on the analysis of DPKK MOH are Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Negeri Sembilan.

“These states have the highest number or daily cases. It is also increasing in Kelantan,” he added. – MalaysiaGazette
