PETALING JAYA – The residents of Mentari Court who are placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) will receive their Covid-19 vaccine beginning this Sunday.

The Petaling District Officer, Datuk Johary Anuar said, they have conducted close contacts detection on approximately 17,000 residents at the residential area on Friday involving 3,469 residential units before doing Covid-19 screening on them.

“After we receive the result of the tests, we will start administering the vaccine to all adults including foreigners at Mentari Court who are close contacts and negative of Covid-19 beginning 4 July.

“Meanwhile, residents under EMCO of Mentari Court scheduled to receive their vaccine at other vaccination centres (PPV) will be asked to reschedule their appointment and they will be receiving their vaccines here,” he said after monitoring the EMCO at Mentari Court along with the Petaling Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid.

Also present were the PJ MP, Maria Chin Abdullah and the Medical Officer from the Petaling Health Office, Dr. R. Sudeash.

346 officers from the Petaling District and Land Office, Ministry of Health (MOH), Social Welfare Department (JKM), Volunteers Department of Malaysia (RELA) and the PJ City Council (MBPJ) are involved in the EMCO of the area.

According to Johary, besides the Covid-19 screening, Mentari Court is also the pioneer module for EMCO vaccination in Selangor.

According to him, the initiative is vital in ensuring the government’s effort in reaching herd immunity as Covid-19 is already in the community.

Meanwhile, Johary said that they will distribute 3,500 food baskets consisting essential items contributed by the Selangor Agriculture Corporation to the residents of Mentari Court beginning today.

“The food baskets will be managed by JKM will be implemented before the screening to ensure all residents in the EMCO area will not suffer any inconvenience in geeting their daily food supply.

“The food baskets contain rice, sugar, flour and others as the food supply to all residents throughout the EMCO period. Besides that, they can also buy their food supplies from the grocery stores within the apartment area that will be opened throughout the EMCO period,” he said.

At the same time, residents are also allowed to receive essential items from the outside. –MalaysiaGazette
