MELAKA – The Sungai Udang State Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Idris Haron revealed that the President from two political parties have invited him to join them.
However, Idris did not disclose the names of those leaders.
“Three, four parties have contacted me. After the news that I got sacked went out, two party Presidents contacted me.
“Thus, when one door closes (UMNO), another opens. The politics flourish but democracy is dead in Melaka,” he said in a joint-news conference with the Pantai Kundor State Assemblyman, Datuk Nor Azman Hassan today.
Yesterday, UMNO said that it has issued a termination letter to Idris and Nor Azman, signed by the President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The Secretary-General of UMNO, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said that the status of Idris and Nor Azman as the members of UMNO were dropped immediately under Article 20.11 and Article 20.9 of the UMNO Constitution.
The termination letters dated 5 October will be handed to the state assemblymen soon.
Idris, Nor Azman and the state assemblymen from Telok Mas Datuk Noor Effandi Ahmad and Pengkalan Batu, Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee have withdrawn their support to the state government led by Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali, causing the government to topple.
Commenting further, Idris alleged that Nor Azman and him are still UMNO members as they have yet to receive any letter from the party.
However, the former Chief Minister of Melaka said that they will reply the termination letter.
“I have not received the termination letter. I only know about it from the media. Physically, I have not seen the letter.
“I am not sure when I will get it, but, I will reply the letter and question the action taken against us.
“At the same time, why several other UMNO leaders such as Tan Sri Annuar Musa, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri are still in the party when they were also once considered as traitors for not agreeing with the party’s policy,” Idris questioned.
Meanwhile, Idris said that they have been driven out of their office and ordered to vacate the venue right after their news conference, announcing their withdrawal of support to Sulaiman on Monday.
“The dissolution, the political games and bad intention of them ordering us to vacate our offices.
“We were driven out from our offices. This is the mentality of the minority government,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
