KUALA LUMPUR – The Election Commission (EC) will be having a meeting today, to determine the important dates for the Melaka state election (PRN).
The meeting will be held at a hotel in Melaka, followed by a news conference at 12.00 pm to announce its decision.
The Secretary of EC, Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak recently said that the meeting will be chaired by the Chairman of EC, Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh.
The EC will be determining the dates for Election Writ, Candidate Nomination, Polling and Voters Registry that would be used, besides other preparations for the state election.
On 4 October, four state assemblymen (ADUN) from Melaka announced their loss of confidence and withdrew their support to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali.
The action has led to the dissolution of the state assembly to pave way for a state election.
The four assemblymen consisted of former Chief Minister Datuk Idris Harun, Datuk Nor Azman Hassan, Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee and Datuk Noor Effandi Ahmad. – MalaysiaGazette
