KUALA LUMPUR – 804 civil servants have been arrested between 1 January until 30 November this year over drug abuse.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Commissioner Datuk Razarudin Husain@Abd Rasid said, from that amount, 346 individuals are from the police force.
“Meanwhile, 340 were civil servants, 104 from the armed forces and 14 were firefighters,” he said during a news conference at the Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) today.
He added, the drug abuse among members of PDRM was not critical. The 346 individuals arrested merely represented 0.04 percent of the 128,325 members of the force.
According to Razarudin, the amount has dropped from 408 individuals last year and 566 individuals in 2019.
“I don’t deny that there are drug abuse cases in PDRM. However, it is not very critical as it is only 0.04 percent.
“It is very under control and their movements are closely monitored by the Department of Integrity and Standard Compliance (JIPS). Disciplinary actions would be taken against them.
“They also go for frequent urine tests,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
