KUALA LUMPUR – Many people have not heard about the Afternoon Without Shadow (Shadowless Day) phenomenon which happened this afternoon in the capital city at 1.19 p.m. sharp.
According to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the phenomenon happened following the Equinox last Monday (21 March) when the sun was directly on the equator.
However, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Shah Alam and several other cities only experienced the zero shadow day today. The phenomenon was observed in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya at 1.19 pm, where else, in Shah Alam, at 1.20 pm.
During the Equinox, the world experiences equal length of day and night of 12 hours, marking the change of season with spring at the northern hemisphere and autumn at the southern hemisphere of the earth.
An observation by MalaysiaGazette around Kuala Lumpur found that most of the people were excited about the phenomenon.
