KUALA LUMPUR – Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak stated his agreement to debate with the President of PKR, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Member of Parliament (MP) of Pekan said in a Facebook post that he wanted the debate to be broadcasted live soon.

“Game on. I agree to debate with Anwar. Let’s rock! I request Anwar and Rafizi’s team to arrange with the media if they wish to broadcast it live.

“Please contact my assistant to find the nearest appropriate date for us all,” said Najib.

The challenge to debate was accepted by Najib not long after Anwar stated his readiness to debate with that former Prime Minister today.

Meanwhile, Najib said that he did not understand Anwar’s statement that for choosing to challenge the Port Dickson MP during early Ramadan after failing to answer the rebuttal from Rafizi on the Sapura bail-out crisis.

“As if Rafizi lied to Anwar when he briefed Anwar on this issue.

“The person who started the debate challenge two days before Ramadan was Rafizi. I was merely accepting it.

“And, I have answered Rafizi’s refutation each time he raises it. At the moment, he only posted about this issue thrice,” said Najib.

According to Najib, he answered all three rebuttal from Rafizi along with facts and evidence.

“Rafizi lied to you too, Anwar?” Najib added.

The media reported that Anwar has waited for 10 years to debate with Najib after his challenge for debate with the Pekan MP was not accepted earlier.

“I noted the debate challenge by the former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak. I have always been clear and have not shifted my stance for more than 10 years, when, I issued the similar challenge to him, but he did not accept it.

Anwar also quoted a Malay warrior poem and said that he does not fear the challenge.

Tuan Puteri pergi ke Lukut,
Bawa pulang kacang panjang,
Sedikit pun hamba tak takut,
Kalau berani turun gelanggang.

“I am ready anytime to face and debate with Najib for the benefit of the country and the people,” he added. – MalaysiaGazette
