KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee who is better known as YB Viral is advised to forget his intention to return to DAP as a candidate in the 15th General Election (GE15).
The Secretary-General of DAP, Anthony Loke Siew Fook said that DAP would not accept individuals like Norhizam to be nominated and represent its party in the election.
He said, the former Pengkalan Batu state assemblyman had decided to leave the party earlier and DAP should not pick him up again.
“Norhizam told Utusan Malaysia that he is ready to contest in the coming GE under UMNO or DAP. I want to tell him, just forget about it.
“For Norhizam’s case, it is obvious… we will not do something stupid. So, if he thinks that he wants to come back, forget it,” he told a news conference today.
Earlier, Norhizam was reported to be eyeing for an opportunity to contest for the Hang Tuah Jaya Parliament seat in GE15.
He confessed that he wanted to contest under a party as he does not wish to repeat his episode of losing the Melaka state election as an independent candidate.
Norhizam said that he has been ‘proposed’ to by several political parties and offering him as a candidate for GE.
Meanwhile, Siew Fook gave the similar warning to all DAP members to not be like Norhizam by quitting the party.
“If they join other parties, or as an independent candidate, as a state assembly member or any other things, our policy is the same. That’s why we want to implement the Anti-Party Hopping Act,” he added.
Meanwhile, Siew Fook said that DAP never recognized party hopping thus, it hoped that the Anti-Party Hopping Bill could be expedited.
He said, DAP would not support the unhealthy party-hopping action. – MalaysiaGazette
