KUALA LUMPUR – DAP maintained its position of not campaigning for the two ‘political frogs’ who have joined the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition to contest in the Melaka State Election.

The National DAP Chairman, Tan Kok Wai said that his party will never campaign for the PKR’s representative in Asahan, Datuk Seri Idris Haron and the Amanah’s candidate in Pantai Kundor, Datuk Nor Azman Hassan.

He said, DAP has clearly stated its stand of rejecting ‘political frogs’ although its partners decided to nominate the two leaders to contest under PH.

“Therefore, we will not be there during the candidate nomination,” he told Kwong Wah Yit Poh after attending a programme in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

When asked about the statement by Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA), who slammed PH for working with ‘political frogs’, Kok Wai said that he agreed with the statement issued by the President of MUDA, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

“Therefore, DAP will not campaign for them in the Melaka State Election.

“Nevertheless, we will campaign for the other PH candidates in Melaka,” said the Member of Parliament of Cheras.

At the same time, Kok Wai also criticised the Communications Director from Amanah, Khalid Abdul Samad, who defended Idris and Nor Azman as ‘frogs with principles’.

“A frog is a frog. We cannot differentiate them by labelling them as frogs with principles or not,” he said.

Meanwhile, in Melaka, DAP veteran leader, Lim Kit Siang refused to comment about the ‘frog’ issue who are contesting under PH, as reported by Sinchew Daily.

“I will not answer about the frog issue as I am no longer in the leadership of the party,” he said.

He also refused to comment if DAP would campaign for Idris and Nor Azman. -MalaysiaGazette
