KUALA LUMPUR – The suspect involved with the landing of helicopter at Padang Ipoh without permission in July last year will be charged at the Ipoh Magistrate Court in Perak on 9 May.

The Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department Director Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hassan said, the investigation paper has been referred to the State Prosecution Director and the order to charge the suspect under Civil Aviation Regulations 2016 has been obtained.

According to him, the suspect will be charged with failing to adhere to the flight plan while landing the helicopter other than the aerodrome stated in the flight plan.

Abdul Jalil Added, upon conviction, the suspect could be fined not more than RM50,000 or imprisoned for up to three years or both.

On 27 July last year, the Perak Police said that they have recorded the statements of five individuals, including the complainant, a staff from the Ipoh City Council, the nasi ganja restaurant operator and three other individuals.

Earlier, a picture of a helicopter landing on Padang Ipoh to pick up an order of 36 packets of nasi ganja on 23 July 2021 which would be flown to the Klang Valley went viral.

At the time of the incident, the country was still under the Movement Control Order (MCO) which forbade the interstate travel. -MalaysiaGazette
