SEBERANG PERAI – A Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidate who was supposed to be sitting for his English papers today was among those arrested for illegal motorcycle racing with two other students at Jalan Lahar Kepar, Penaga last night.

The Ops Samseng Jalan operation, which took place from 6.00 pm until 11.00 pm last night, has brought to the arrest of the students aged between 14 and 18 years-old.

MalaysiaGazette was told that the secondary school student from Permatang Tok Labu were released on police bail to enable him to sit for his examination this morning.

The Seberang Perai Utara District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd Noor said that all students were doing the wheelie action during the arrest.

“Besides that, they were also racing among themselves from Kepala Batas before making a turn to Jalan Lahar Kepar.

“Police inspection found that all three teenagers were still schooling, including a SPM candidate,” he said when contacted by MalaysiaGazette today.

In the same operation, the police also confiscated 15 motorcycles over various offences.

He added, the operation was made to ensure that Jalan Lahar Kepar does not become a race track for motorcyclists, especially involving teenagers.

“Their actions not only endanger themselves but also other road users.

“I would like to urge all parents to monitor and control their children and do not allow them to ride motorcycle without valid license,” said Noorzainy. –MalaysiaGazette
