Five individualsu have been fined for gathering to celebrate the birth a grandchild at their residence in Kampung 11 Sungai Lalang, Bedong

SUNGAI PETANI – Five individuals were fined for gathering to celebrate the birth of grandchild at their residence in Kampung 11 Sungai Lalang, Bedong yesterday.

Acting on public complaints, a team of police from the Covid-19 Observation Ops raided the premise at 9.00 pm last night.

The Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Adzli Abu Shah said that investigation found five individuals comprising of three men and two women at the location where three of them were the hosts and two were guests.

“Investigation found that all of them who are aged between 19 and 61 years-old have violated the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of the Movement Control Order (MCO) by organising a thanksgiving party to celebrate the birth of the host’s child.

“All of them were gathering without wearing face mask and did not observe the physical distancing during the raid.

“Five compounds amounting to RM20,000 have been issued by the police over the MCO SOP offences,” he said.

Meanwhile, Adzli also advised the people not to violate the SOP determined by the government to stop the spread of Covid-19.

“We will not compromise with anyone who violates the SOP set by the government in the effort to curb the spread of Covid-19,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
