PEKAN – A man who wore ‘pink bracelet’ without face mask while fuelling up at a petrol station in Bentong has been arrested by the police for further investigation.
A civilian recorded the man in action at a petrol station in Batu 11, Bentong yesterday evening.
The Bentong District Police Chief, Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said, the incident happened at around 2.00 pm and went viral in the social media.
“Early investigation found that the man was on his way to the Bentong District Health Office (PKD) to cut his observation pink wristband.
“However, the car driven by the man went out of fuel, thus, he stopped at the station to refuel and the incident was recorded by the public,” he said when contacted by MalaysiaGazette.
According to Zaiham, investigation is conducted according to Section 269 of the Penal Code for unlawfully or negligently does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life and Section 17(1) of Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 2021.
“Anyone who violates any provision of these regulations, or the order of the Director-General of officer granted the authority commits and offence and upon conviction, can be fined not exceeding RM50,000 or jailed for not more than six months or both.
“The public is urged to continue to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP), especially in wearing face mask in public places and practice physical distancing,” he said.
Meanwhile, the public may also provide information on activities that violate SOP to the Bentong District Police Headquarters at 09-2222222 or their nearest police station. –MalaysiaGazette
