KUALA LUMPUR – The Supreme Council of UMNO has unanimously withdrawn its support for the Perikatan Nasional government and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the Prime Minister.
The President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced the party’s decision in a news conference today.
“To express our undivided loyalty towards KDYMM Yang di-Pertuan Agong, thus, the Supreme Council unanimously withdraw our support for the Perikatan Nasional government and Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Mahiaddin Bin Haji Md Yasin as the Prime Minister,” he said.
According to Zahid, Muhyiddin must bear the responsibility over his failure and the refusal of the government under his leadership that has disobeyed the orders of Yang di-Pertuan Agong by resigning honourably.
He also said he has gathered enough of figures in a Declaration Letter from the UMNO MPs to withdraw their support for Muhyiddin as the Prime Minister and the letter has been submitted to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
With that, Muhyiddin has lost his majority and legibility as the Chief of Government. –MalaysiaGazette
