KUALA LUMPUR – Opposition Chief, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has submitted a motion of no confidence to the Dewan Rakyat towards Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The motion was handed over to the Speaker of Dewan Rakyat, Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun following the statement from Istana Negara today on the revocation of he Emergency Ordinance.

Anwar, who is also the Member of Parliament of Port Dickson said that the motion was sent to the office of the Speaker at 3.00 pm today.

“With this, the Dewan Rakyat resolves to establish no-confidence in Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, MP for Pagoh, and to vacate the post of prime minister immediately in accordance with the Federal Constitution,” he said in a news conference at the Parliament today.

According to Anwar, the motion was sent by him, representing the members of Dewan Rakyat.

Commenting on the announcement for everyone in the Parliament to undergo swab test following Covid-19 positive cases in the building, Anwar alleged that was merely a trick by the government to stall the Dewan Rakyat sitting.

“This is the trick I mentioned just now. We can in fact go for the screening without interfering the Parliament session.

“Thus, to us and the majority of the Members of Parliament at the Dewan Rakyat today consider that Muhyiddin has been sacked and dropped from his position as the Prime Minister,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
