KUALA LUMPUR – Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will be making an important announcement this evening.
Based on a report by Sinar Harian Online, Ismail is expected to make the announcement at 4.00 pm today on the stand of the Members of Parliament (MP) from Barisan Nasional (BN) and UMNO.
The report which quoted a source said that the announcement would be a response to the news conference held by the President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who claimed that a statutory declaration (SD) with a sufficient figure by UMNO MPs to withdraw support towards Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has been submitted to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong yesterday (3 August).
“Yesterday (Tuesday night), the Deputy Prime Minister had a meeting with the Prime Minister himself before meeting a number of MPs from BN at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur to seek the best solution towards the current political crisis.
“Various options were presented in the two meetings and Ismail Sabri himself will announce the latest standing of the BN MPs in a news conference this evening (today),” said the news report.
Earlier, Ismail Sabri said that 40 MPs from BN have agreed to support the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government under the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Yesterday, Ahmad Zahid said that at least 12 MPs from UMNO have withdrawn their support to the PN government. Among them include the Pekan MP Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak; Pengerang MP Datuk Seri Azalina Said Othman and Parit MP Datuk Seri Mohd Nizar Zakaria.
Along with Ahmad Zahid are also the Baling MP Datuk Seri Azeez Abdul Rahim; Tanjong Karang MP Tan Sri Noh Omar; Jerantut MP Datuk Ahmad Nazlan Idris; Machang MP Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub; Gua Musang MP Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, Pontian MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan; Lenggong MP Datuk Seri Shamsul Anuar Nasarah and Cameron Highlands MP Ramli Mohd Nor. – MalaysiaGazette
