KOTA KINABALU – Former Governor of Sabah, Tun Sakaran Dandai has passed away at around 6.00 am this morning.
The sad news of his demise was shared by his third son, Datuk Seri Nasir Sakaran just now.
“Yes, my father has passed away. We were informed by the hospital at 6.00 am.
“His remains will be managed by the State Mosque and he will be laid to rest at Makam Pahlawan (Heroes Mausoleum),” he said as quoted by Astro Awani.
Earlier, Tun Sakaran, 91, was admitted into a private hospital on 18 August after being infected by Covid-19.
Originated from Semporna, Sakaran was the 8th Governor of Sabah from 1 January 1995 until 31 December 2002.
He was also the 8th Chief Minister of Sabah in 1994. –MalaysiaGazette
