PUTRAJAYA – The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba who officially started his work at MOSTI recommended his ministry to intensify innovation in economics.
According to him, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) taken over by him from Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar needs to seek ways to increase national economy, in line with the global technology advancement.
“We will intensify their presence that requires the service of MOSTI and also those related to science and technology.
“Therefore, we need to intensify innovation in the form of economics aspect, along with how innovation can spur the growth of economy among our people, and our contribution globally to turn our country into the exporter of science and technology,” he said during a virtual interaction session with the Secretary-General of MOSTI, Datuk Dr. Siti Hamisah Tapsir and the ministry staff today.
Earlier, Adham arrived at the ministry at 8.35 am and recorded his attendance to official kick start his duty as the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.
The former Health Minister replaces Khairy after the duo switched portfolio under the ninth Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s cabinet.
The previous cabinet resigned along with former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin after he lost the majority support from the members of Dewan Rakyat.
Elaborating further, Adham said that every action by the staff of MOSTI can develop the country and bring it forward.
“Let us be determined and join our forces with the people to form a strong team in facing all challenges,” he said.
Adham took oath as the Minister of MOSTI on Monday (30 August) along with 30 other Ministers and 38 Deputy Ministers before Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at Istana Negara. – MalaysiaGazette
