KUALA LUMPUR – The Prime Minister has ordered the Ministry of Finance (MoF) to speed up payment for Bantuan Khas Covid-19 (BKC) special aid that was supposed to be paid out last month.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that, RM3.1 billion has been channelled to relevant banking institutions.

He said, the Phase 1 credit process will begin on 6 September 2021 and is expected to complete on 10 September 2021.

BKC will benefit 10 million recipients from hardcore poor, B40 and M40 groups.

The cash aid is part of the Pakej Perlindungan Rakyat dan Pemulihan Ekonomi (PEMULIH) initiative, besides, an additional payment on top of economic stimulus package.

On 28 June 2021, the government has announced PEMULIH Package as part of the thorough government assistance initiative for the people to face the impact of Covid-19 pandemic.

He said, the next payment will be made according to the schedule.

“I am always sensitive towards the plights of the people and I hope that the BKC payment will somehow lighten the burdens of the people affected by Covid-19.

“The government will continue to be committed in ensuring the welfare of Keluarga Malaysia, especially the target group,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
