JOHOR BAHRU – The wish of a husband and wife to travel interstate from Perak to Johor was squashed after they were issued the RM2,000 compound each for not being fully vaccinated for Covid-19.

The Kota Tinggi District Police Chief, Superintendent Husin Zamora said that the couple was arrested in a roadblock at Inas, Jalan Kulai – Kota Tinggi yesterday.

“We issued compounds to a husband and wife as they did not have their complete vaccination certificate yesterday.

“Based on our inspection, we found that the duo travelled from Perak towards Kulai using Jalan Inas,” he said in a media statement today.

Zamora said that the police will continue to monitor the interstate travel relaxation through standard operating procedures (SOP) operations in the district.

“I would like to advise the people not to try to break any rules. We will not compromise if there is an offence,” he added.

The couple was fined under Regulation 17(1) Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulation 2021. -MalaysiaGazette
