MASJID TANAH – Barisan Nasional (BN) verified that the former Chief Minister of Melaka, Datuk Sulaiman Md Ali is the only candidate for the Chief Minister post if the party wins the state election.
The matter was validated by the BN Advisory Board Chairman, Datuk Seri Najib Razak after he accompanied the party’s candidate, Datuk Ab Rauf Yusoh to the Tanjung Bidara candidate nomination centre this morning.
The former Prime Minister also said that Ab Rauf’s nomination for the Tanjung Bidara state assembly seat did not deter Sulaiman’s status for the position.
“No, no, no… we have decided… only Sulaiman,” he said, backing Sulaiman, the candidate from BN for the Lendu State Assembly in the Melaka state election for the Chief Minister’s post.
Meanwhile, Ab Rauf said that the reason he chose to contest in the election is to bring forth the message of the party, not to oppose any individual.
“I am not fighting Mas Ermieyati. I bring forth the fight for the redemption of UMNO’s pride in Tanjung Bidara,” he said.
The Tanjung Bidara state assembly seat will be witnessing a three-corner fight between Ab Rauf; the Member of Parliament of Masjid Tanah, Mas Ermieyati Samsudin and the candidate from Pakatan Harapan (PH), Zainal Hassan. – MalaysiaGazette
