BUTTERWORTH – “I heard the bomb-like explosions before seeing fire engulfing the aircraft at runway of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) air base,” said the witness of the incident of the RMAF Hawk 108 aircraft crash last night.

According to Mastura Mohammad Nordin, 44, said that she was working at her tomyam stall at Kampung Benggali located approximately 100 metres away from the fence of the air base when the accident took place.

She ran out of her stall right after she heard the explosions before she saw fire engulfing the aircraft on the runway.

“I am used to hearing the sounds of aircrafts as my stall is very near to the air base. However, the blast last night was different. It was louder than firecrackers. It sounded like bomb and it made me run out to see where the sound came from.

“I heard two explosions before seeing the fire on the plane,” she said when met by journalists last night.

MalaysiaGazette reported last night that a pilot was killed and another was injured after the RMAF Hawk 108 fighter jet crashed at the Butterworth air base.
