KUALA LUMPUR – The termination of Pasir Salak Member of Parliament (MP), Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman as the Supreme Council (MKT) member of UMNO is the decision of the party, said its President, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said, any Supreme Council Member who is taken disciplinary action must follow rules and accept the decision of the party.

“According to the party’s constitution, the power to appoint lies in the hands of the UMNO President and I think that any Supreme Council Member should obey the decision of the party.

“This decision was not only determined during the UMNO General Assembly (PAU) or UMNO Special AGM, especially when we become part of the MKT member.

“We may have different opinion, but we need to go through discussion or meeting, however it when a decision is reached, thus, that is the decision of the party,” he said after launching the Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth Job Fair 2022 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) today.

Tajuddin who was appointed as the Ambassador of Malaysia to Indonesia last week has been terminated as the MKT member last Tuesday.

According to a letter dated 21 June issued by the UMNO Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, the termination was caused by the commitment of Tajuddin as the ambassador.

Tajuddin’s office at Tindakan Juara Sdn. Bhd, Phileo Damansara 1, Pusat Dagangan Seksyen 16, Petaling Jaya, Selangor received the letter on 22 June.

Elaborating further, Ahmad Zahid did not agree with the termination personally, however, he accepted it with an open mind and heart.

“When a party’s decision is made, we should accept the decision that is made according to the rules and constitution of the party,” he said.

When asked about the cause of the termination, he answered, only Tajuddin knows.

“It is not fair for me to tell, however, he surely knows what he did to the party,” he said.

When asked if his termination was caused by Tajuddin violating the party’s rules, Ahmad Zahid said, “That’s why I said, you need to ask him yourself. What statement has he made? What did he say during his speech, only he knows.

“On appeal, it can be made if it is related to membership. However, appeal for an appointed position, there is no element of appeal which can be made,” he said. -MalaysiaGazette
