Tashkent – Advance Pact Sdn Bhd (AP), Malaysia and Tashkent State Medical University (TSMU), Uzbekistan, have signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MOC) to strengthen cooperation in healthcare engineering, medical technology and healthcare innovation between the two nations.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by His Excellency Tuan Ilham Tuah Illias, Malaysian Ambassador to Uzbekistan and Dr. Muralitharan Paramasua, Chief Executive of the Medical Device Authority (MDA), Malaysia, representing the Ministry of Health. Also present were the First Vice-Rector of TMSU, Professor Bobomuratov Turdikul Akromovich, distinguished Vice Rectors of TSMU and Malaysian regulatory and industry delegation members.
In her speech, Dr. Siti Ainol, the Chief Executive Officer of AP, shared that the collaboration is a continuation of the earlier visit to Tashkent, where both parties identified a shared aspiration to enhance academic, research and industry linkages in the field of healthcare.
The MOC outlines several key areas of collaboration, including:
1. Academic and professional development initiatives in healthcare-related fields;
2. Opportunities for knowledge-sharing and exchange activities;
3. Collaboration in innovation, research, and development efforts of mutual interests; and
4. Collaboration in any potential areas as agreed to by the Parties from time to time.
The collaboration also serves to bridge academia and industry, with AP contributing its expertise in healthcare engineering, medical device innovation and regulatory compliance to support TSMU in developing industry-relevant curricula and providing exposure to real-world applications in healthcare technology.
In his remarks, His Excellency Tuan Ilham Tuah Illias commended both parties for their initiative. “This collaboration will benefit both parties and I am happy to witness this meaningful milestone in Malaysia–Uzbekistan cooperation,” he said. He further highlighted that education and tourism are two important areas that can be explored by both countries. Uzbekistan, he noted, is rich in the legacy of great scholars in mathematics and science, while Malaysia offers a competitive and safe destination for international students to further their studies.
Tashkent State Medical University, the flagship medical institution in Uzbekistan, was formed through the merger of the Tashkent Medical Academy, the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute, and the Tashkent State Dental Institute. This consolidation created a stronger and more comprehensive institution, uniting expertise across multiple medical disciplines to advance healthcare education and research in the region.
The collaboration marks another international milestone for Advance Pact, a Malaysian healthcare and biomedical engineering company actively engaged in medical device innovation and industry development initiatives, including the VS1 Portable Ventilator. – MalaysiaGazette
