DUBAI – The firm Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) said one of its sites in Abu Dhabi had suffered significant damage after an Iranian attack that left six people wounded, according to authorities.
“A number of EGA employees were injured. None of the injuries are life threatening,” it added.
Earlier in the day, the Emirati defence ministry said it had intercepted a drone-and-missile attack and that falling debris had sparked two fires in the Khalifa industrial zone on the emirate’s coast.
Five Indian nationals were injured, with “moderate to minor wounds”, authorities said, later reporting a third fire in which a Pakistani man was also injured. All three fires were brought under control, the ministry added.
A close US ally and one of the few Arab countries to normalise relations with Israel, the UAE has been the main target of Iran’s retaliatory attacks on Gulf neighbours since the war began on February 28. – AFP
