SHAH ALAM – The Selangor Islamic Religion Standing Committee has set a new standard operating procedures (SOP) for mosques and surau in six districts under the Movement Control Order (MCO), namely Petaling, Hulu Langat, Gombak, Klang, Sepang and Kuala Langat.

In a statement today, the committee said that the number congregants for Friday prayers is set at a maximum of 500 people, including officials and members of the mosque committee for the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque (SSAAS) and Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Mosque (TAJ).

Meanwhile, a maximum of 200 people are allowed during obligatory prayers at the two mosques.

Tarawih prayers at the SSAAS will be limited to only 600 people, while 550 worshippers are allowed at the TAJ.

The committee said, for the management and kariah of the mosques, a congregation of 100 people area allowed for Friday prayers and daily congregation prayers, meanwhile, tarawih prayers are limited to only 100 male congregants.

At the same time, 200 worshippers are allowed to perform Friday and obligatory prayers at institutional mosques in the state, while tarawih prayers are limited to only 200 male congregants.

For surau permitted to hold congregational prayers, only 50 people are allowed for Friday and obligatory prayers, while 50 male congregants are allowed for tarawih.

For mosques and surau in districts placed under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) namely, in Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor, the SOP for Friday prayers, obligatory prayers and tarawih prayers remain the same. -MalaysiaGazette / BERNAMA
