KUALA LUMPUR – Six districts in Selangor will be placed under the Movement Control Order (MCO) for two weeks beginning 6 until 17 May.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the six districts are namely Hulu Langat, Petaling, Gombak, Klang, Kuala Langat and Sepang.

He said three other districts; Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam and Hulu Selangor would still be placed under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

“The Menteri Besar and the Selangor National Security Council (MKN) have presented the proposal for the central MKN to implement MCO in that state.

“After referring to their report, MKN at the advice of the Ministry of Health (MOH) during the Special Covid-19 Meeting has agreed to implement MCO on six out of nine districts in Selangor beginning this Thursday,” he said during a news conference today.

According to Ismail Sabri, Selangor has been recording the highest number of daily cases for the past few weeks. With the MCO in place, interstate and inter-district travel is banned, with the exception of emergency cases such as death, work and others.

He said, the SOP in the six districts will be the same as other areas on MCO.

Nevertheless, he said, economic activities are still allowed in Selangor with strict SOP.

“Food premises, restaurant, food trucks are allowed to operate from 6.00 am until 12.00 am.

“Grocery stores, convenience stores, pharmacies and petrol stations may operate from 6.00 am until 10.00 pm, meanwhile, petrol stations at highways are allowed to operate 24 hours.

“The same goes with daily market, farmer’s market. They may operate from 6.00 am until 2.00 pm. Meanwhile, the Ramadan bazaar will operate under strict SOP.

“Nevertheless, social activities are not allowed,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
