BUKIT MERTAJAM – A vocational college student assaulted his father using a knife on his tummy and hand at their house in Taman Alma Jaya yesterday.

The 11.00 am incident happened when the mother of the 17-year-old boy asked the boy to have his meal as he did not eat any raya delicacy.

Unhappy with his mother, the suspect went to the kitchen before storming out and attacked his 60-year-old father with a fruit knife.

The Seberang Perai Tengah District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shafee Abd Samad said, their next door neighbour who found out about the incident contacted the police for further action.

He said, based on investigation, the police found that the victim suffered injuries on his tummy and left arm.

“Further investigation found that the suspect acted beyond control after his mother asked him to eat.

“The victim received outpatient treatment before he was discharged home.

“Following that, we have arrested the suspect for investigation and seized the knife used at the location of crime,” he said when contacted by MalaysiaGazette today.

He added, further investigation found that the suspect suffers from depression since last year and is currently being treated and monitored at the Psychiatric Department of the Bukit Mertajam Hospital.

“The suspect is arrested for investigation according to Section 324 of the Penal Code,” said Shafee. –MalaysiaGazette
