KUALA LUMPUR – The Election Commission (EC) has fixed the Sarawak State Election on 18 December.

“The EC has received the official report from the Speaker of Sarawak on the dissolution of the Sarawak State Assembly on 3 November 2021.

“The State Election Writ date is on 24 November 2021, the candidate nomination day will fall on 6 December 2021, early polling day will be held on 14 December 2021 and the normal voting day is on 18 December 2021,” said the Chairman of EC, Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh in a news conference today.

The Sarawak polls would witness the contest of 82 State Assembly Seats.

“EC has lined up 82 managers and 249 officers throughout the Sarawak polls. Besides that, 155 campaign enforcers from the Royal Malaysia Police, local authorities and representatives from the contesting candidates will also be on duty,” he said.

According to Abdul Ghani, the voters registration used for the Sarawak State Election is the latest updated list as of 2 November 2021. There are 1,252,014 eligible voters in the list. -MalaysiaGazette
