KUALA LUMPUR – Former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak was not allowed to enter the Kuala Lumpur High Court for his 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) proceeding after his MySejahtera status turned yellow.

His defence counsel, Datuk Hariharan Tara Singh told High Court Judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah that Najib was asked to leave the court building after showing his MySejahtera. According to him, both Najib and lead defence counsel, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah have been denied from entering the building as their MySejahtera turned from green to yellow.

“Both of them answered several general questions from the MySejahtera application and their status turned yellow and they were asked to go home.

“They are still waiting outside while waiting for Your Honour,” he said today.

Collin then asked the duo (Najib and Muhammad Shafee to go for Covid-19 self-test before submitting their result to the Ministry of Health to regulate their MySejahtera status.

Najib is currently facing 25 counts of power abuse and money-laundering charges involving RM2.28 billion of 1MDB funds that were transferred to his personal AmBank accounts between February 2011 and December 2014.

Earlier, his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah was also barred from entering the court for her solar hybrid project corruption trial due to her orange MySejahtera status.

Although the prosecution proposed for a hybrid proceeding, the judge fixed a new date for an open trial or otherwise. -MalaysiaGazette
