KUALA LUMPUR – Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDA), Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah reminded the Members of Parliament (MPs) to stop politicking all the time.

The reminder was delivered at the end of his Royal decree in conjunction with the Opening Ceremony of the First Meeting of the Fifth Term of the 14th Parliament. He also asked the MPs to focus on the welfare of the people.

His Majesty ended his royal decree to the MPs with a poem.

“To continue to tradition from the previous year, before I end my decree, can I recite a poem?” His Majesty asked the MPs and they answered, yes.

His Majesty then recited the following:

Gunung Kinabalu sama didaki,
Sungai Pahang sama direnang,
Jikalau semua bersatu hati,
Kerja yang susah menjadi senang.

(Difficult tasks would become easy if everyone is united)

Busana tradisi kain bersulam,
Warnanya jingga berawan larat,
Cukuplah berpolitik siang dan malam,
Fokuskan menjaga kepentingan rakyat.

(Enough of politicking day and night, focus on taking care of the interests of the people).

Al-Sultan Abdullah then officiated the Parliament sitting. – MalaysiaGazette
