KUALA LUMPUR – The Toyota Alphard driver who was remanded to assist in police investigation for dangerous driving at the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway near Genting Sempah, last week has been released on police bail.

The Selangor Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) Chief, Superintendent Azman Shari’at said that the suspect was released this evening after the completion of his statement recording.

“The suspect was remanded for three days since Monday (2 May) to assist into the investigation after the incident went viral in the social media last Sunday (1 May),” he said when contacted by MalaysiaGazette today.

Meanwhile, according to Azman, the investigation on the road bully case involving the 43-year-old suspect will be completed by the JSPT investigation officer before it is submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor.

The case is investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Last Sunday, the police detected a 2 minutes 25 seconds viral video on Facebook showing a Toyota Alphard Multipurpose Vehicle (MPV) being driven recklessly at KM 25.1 to KM 27.5 of the Karak Highway heading towards Genting Sempah.

In that video footage, the MPV driver was trying to overtake a vehicle using the emergency lane besides braking suddenly and blocked the road with the intention to provoke other road users. -MalaysiaGazette
