KUALA LUMPUR – The adoptive mother of Allahyarham Zubaidi Amir Qusyairi Abd Malek, is shocked to find out that the birth mother and stepfather of Amir will be charged at the court this morning with murder and abusing the child.

She was silent and MalaysiaGazette could only hear her crying on the line during the call.

Chocking in tears, Norlida said, “Allah, Ya Allah, poor Amir. My son was beaten. How could they do that to Amir?

She who is fondly known as Umi (mother) said that although there were early speculations that her adopted son was implicated with being abused, she often told her heart not to accept those speculations.

On the contrary, she tried to accept that Amir’s death was due to fall and not because he was abused by his birth mother or stepfather.

“Umi often reject other people’s opinion that Amir was abused. I actually cannot bring myself to accept the fact that Amir was being beaten.

“I cannot imagine the pain of Amir when he was hit,” she said sadly.

The seven-year-old boy was found drowned in a water bucket at Krubong, Melaka last month.

The birth mother and stepfather of Amir was arrested and remanded on 30 January after the body was found.

Despite sounding sad, Norlida said sternly that if the couple is truly guilty, they should receive their intended punishment.

“I don’t want to make the situation worse, that’s all from me,” she said. –MalaysiaGazette
