KUALA LUMPUR – Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani has been nominated to replace Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador as the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

However, decision would depend on the Prime Minister and the consent from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, said Abdul Hamid who will be retiring soon.

“That is the plan. The Deputy would become the Inspector-General of Police.

“However, the decision would be up to the approval of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, as the position requires the consent of the Agong,” he said briefly during a news conference at Bukit Aman today.

He was appointed to the position for the contract period of 4 May 2019 until 3 May 2021.

Throughout his service in the PDRM, Abdul Hamid held various positions such as the Deputy District Police Chief of Gombak, State Special Branch Chief, Assistant Director of Foreign Intelligence Department (E3), Foreign Extremists Threat Department, Deputy Director of Special Branch 1 and the Director of Special Branch since 23 May 2018. –MalaysiaGazette
