KUALA LUMPUR – Newly minted Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said that the IGP post is a heavy responsibility on his shoulders to manage the challenges faced by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

Nevertheless, he is confident that he will not be alone in shouldering the responsibility handed over by his predecessor, Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.

“I believe that I am not alone and I am not ashamed in shouldering this huge responsibility as each time I accept a new assignment, I ignore all feelings if I am able to do this, or not.

“I am confident with the trust given by the directors, state police chiefs and OCPD of every district for us to continue striving our best for the wellbeing and safety of the people,” he said during a news conference.

Earlier, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Mohamed Said witnessed his appointment as the IGP following the IGP hand-over ceremony by Abdul Hamid. There was no sight of Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

Last Friday, Acryl received his appointment letter as the 13th IGP with effect from tomorrow from Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin at his office in Putrajaya.

On a relevant development, Acryl said that he would announce the new direction of PDRM soon.

He said, it is vital in ensuring that PDRM continues in achieving success in continuously protecting the welfare and safety of the people in the country.

Meanwhile, Abdul Hamid expressed his confidence towards Acryl Sani that he has high ability, experience and academic qualification to drive PDRM to achieve greater heights.

He also said that he would return and focus on his gardening and farming activities.

“Everyone should learn to farm and do gardening as it gives us a different satisfaction,” he said. –MalaysiaGazette
