KUALA LUMPUR – A foolhardy factory bus driver who violated the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the Full Movement Control Order (FMCO) or total lockdown by fetching 34 construction workers in his bus has earned him a fine.

The bus driver was detected for flouting the SOP when he stopped near a bank at Jalan Tun H.S. Lee at around 7.30 am this morning, when a team of compliance enforcement police was conducting the SOP monitoring at the area.

“Inspection found that the bus was carrying 34 passengers who are foreign workers for a Mass Rail Transit (MRT) station construction site here,” said the Dang Wangi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Zainal Abdullah.

Throughout the total lockdown or FMCO, public transport are only allowed to carry 50 percent of its passengers capacity.

Mohamad Zainal said, the bus driver was ordered to go to the Traffic Police station for further action where he was issued the RM2,000 compound. His employer on the other hand was fined RM10,000.

According to him, no action was taken against the foreign workers in the bus as they were merely following the order from their employer. –MalaysiaGazette
